Contemporary Ruins.

Macquette of Contemporary Ruins. Final version to be cast in material appropriate to the site. Overall dimensions for this spatial arrangement approximately 6' x 24' x 10.' Each "column" is 6 feet high and 20 inches in diameter.

This walk-through, sculptural environment evokes an ancient Greek ruin that is placed in a contemporary public setting. The repetitive, but changing, form is a hybrid of an Ionic column and an Empire style gown. This "column" alludes to the traditional caryatid and to the column/body's function as a support, without actually being a support.
